Seattle — Amazon will be serving up deals to its Prime members in mid-July when Amazon Prime Day returns for the 10th time.
This year’s event on July 16 and 17 is targeting the back-to-school and off-to-college crowd with deals on Amazon Basics and Essentials as well as school supplies and dorm room staples such as bedding, small appliances and storage items.
The online retailer has set up shopping guides at amazon.com/backtoschool and amazon.com/offtocollege where students can find curated shopping lists. Students and young adults ages 18 to 24 can also try out Prime Student with a special trial offer.
A combination of sale and celebration, Amazon is kicking off the Prime Days announcement with a music drop from Megan Thee Stallion featuring a video and original song “It’s Prime Day.” Leading up to Prime Day, which starts at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time on July 16, various influencers including actresses Millie Bobby Brown and Alyssa McKay, TikTok star Alix Earle, fitness coach Jess Sims and basketball player Jared McCain will introduce deals from July 8-15 across categories such as home, beauty and sports.
Many of the deals are being tied to Amazon brands such as Amazon Music, Prime Video and Amazon devices such as the Ring doorbell camera, Fire TV and Kindle or accessed with the aid of Amazon products such as Alexa, which will provide deals and event reminders.
The e-commerce brand is also touting its link to small businesses, with early access to deals for products from Black-, women-, Hispanic-, military family- and LBGTQIA-owned businesses.
