Durham, N.C. – Designers Chris and Julia Marcum, the people behind the Chris Loves Julia brand, recently stopped by the Pottery Barn Kids store at the Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham, N.C., to share information about their latest collaboration.

Julia started a blog in 2009, the year after she and Chris got married. In 2015, the couple said they “took Instagram by the horns” and started photographing their home projects. Soon after, they started reaching out to their audience every day and became consistent with posting content. A year later, Chris quit his day job, and they are now working on their home full time as well as partnering to design new product.

Last fall, Pottery Barn Kids collaborated with Chris Loves Julia for a collection that included a range of nursery essentials, which included chic décor, storage, floral bedding and furniture.

This spring, the duo brought even more products to the line including a crib, rocker and ottoman, bed, a dresser with a removable changing table, shadow boxes and a peel-and-stick mural.

“I wanted to design children’s furniture in a traditional way with a touch of whimsy,” Julia said. “Many times, children’s furniture looks cartoony. We decided to use rich woods and a beautiful design theme to make these pieces heirloom furniture.”

Julia said Pottery Barn Kids “spoke the same language” as they did, so they were able to create pieces that are both well-made and affordable.

“The peel-and-stick mural is only $180,” Julia added. “And the glider with the half-moon ottoman is both comfortable and practical. Kids now want more of a say in how they design their rooms, and these pieces grow with your children so they can be proud to invite friends over no matter what age they are.”
