Brooklyn, N.Y.—Chef Marcus Samuelsson has teamed with West Elm for a 32-piece capsule collection that encompasses furniture, home décor and tabletop.

The inspiration for his first home furnishings line reflects Samuelsson’s Ethiopian heritage, Swedish roots and current residency in New York’s Harlem neighborhood.

The limited-edition collection by Samuelsson, an award-winning chef, restaurateur and author who was born in Ethiopia and raised in Sweden, includes a dining table, bistro table and chairs with leather or fabric seat covers in a sleek Scandinavian design; a color-block bar cabinet in lapis and red; various lighting options in brass or matte black; as well as wall art, table linens, a wool and jute rug, dinnerware, serveware and more.

Prices range from $1,299 for the 76-inch blonde oak and rubberwood dining table to $35 for a set of four stainless steel napkin rings.

In an interview with online and print publication Family Style, Samuelsson described his West Elm line as “where Scandinavia meets the mystique of Africa, all-in-one. There are some Nordic touches, but there are also a ton of colors and patterns that come from the African side.”

West Elm, which was founded in Brooklyn in 2002 and has more than 100 stores and outlets nationwide, is part of Williams-Sonoma Inc.
