Kohl’s tells corporate workers it’s time to come back to the office.

Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Kohl’s is the latest national retailer to issue a return-to-office mandate to headquarters staff.

All corporate employees living within 30 miles of Menomonee Falls must start working from the office on Monday through Thursday beginning Oct. 14, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The move is designed to improve collaboration.

“The return-to-office requirement does not apply to Kohl’s employees who live more than 30 miles away, who are designated as ‘fully remote.’ In-person employees will be allowed two ‘work from anywhere weeks’ per year, which must be taken one week at a time,” the Journal Sentinel reported.

Kohl’s becomes at least the 3rd major retailer to pull the plug on large-scale remote work this year.

Macy’s in late April issued a deadline for corporate staff who had dispersed during the Covid pandemic to move back to the New York City area and told those already there they had to start clocking time in the office. In mid-May, Walmart ordered remote corporate workers back to the office.
