The company has promoted Shreeka Meadows to the role, according to reports from Supermarket News and Progressive Grocer. Meadows, who joined DG 12 years ago, will lead the merchandising strategy for PopShelf’s unique assortment, including on-trend seasonal and home décor and beauty essentials.

Meadow’s was most recently VP/DMM for apparel at Dollar General stores. Her career also includes merchandising and buyer positions as Sears Holdings and Mervyn’s.

In October, DG announced it had updated its PopShelf to a new store format offering expanded home décor, cosmetics, DIY goods, books, books and specialty pet items. As of last month, the company operated 229 stand-alone PopShelf stores in 21 states. Company executives have said the format could eventually growth to 100 stores. In its 10Q filing for the second quarter, the company reported it plans to open an unspecified number of Pop-Shelf locations in Mexico before the end of the fiscal year.

Meadow’s promotion was among 13 recent executives appointments at Dollar General  across various operating divisions in the company.
