Wilmington, Del. — A document filed on Feb. 28 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware designated 22 additional Big Lots stores to be transferred to Variety Wholesalers.
These stores join the 200 stores that were designated for transfer to Variety by Gordon Brothers in early February.
A provision in the filing notes that objections to the assumption and assignment of the contracts must be filed with the court no later than March 14 at 4 p.m. A hearing will be held if necessary.
The designated stores are located in Fairmont and Charleston, W.Va.; Alcoa, Kingsport, Cookeville and Chattanooga, Tenn.; Southaven, Miss.; Washington and Erie, Pa.; Fayetteville, Dunn, Gastonia, Kinston and Wilmington, N.C.; Guntersville and Dotahn, Ala.; Lexington, S.C.; Glasgow and Bowling Green, Ky.; Augusta, Ga.; and Columbus, Ohio.
Another document, filed Feb. 27, had Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Inc. in line to receive 40 Big Lots leases that were not selected for transfer to Variety.
Gordon Brothers acquired the Top 100 retailer’s assets on Jan. 9, including its stores, distribution centers and intellectual property as part of Big Lots’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, which began on Sept. 9, 2024.
