Burlington, N.J. – Over the past five years, Burlington Stores Inc. has added more than $1.2 billion in total home category sales.
The off-price retailer‘s home sales climbed 9.2% in the fiscal year ended Feb. 1 on top of 6.6% growth the previous year, according to the company’s 10K annual report filed with the SEC. Home sales rang in at more than $2.1 billion, marking a new milestone.
Burlington first recorded more than $1 billion in home sales at the end of 2020. That coincided with the growing importance of home to the mix. Prior to 2020, home as a percentage of total sales ran around 15%. Since 2020, home’s contribution to total sales has held steady in the 20% to 21% range.
The company has steadily been growing its store count over the past several years, adding 347 net units over since 2020. While new stores certainly propelled total company growth last year, the top-line also benefited from traffic gains and higher AUR in Q4, comp growth in Q2 and gains in traffic and conversions in Q1.
