Home brands made Newsweek’s Best Retailers list

New York — Newsweek and Statista published the third annual Best Retailers list on July 17, with several home furnishings brands and Top 100 retailers among the honorees.

According to Newsweek, the rankings were identified from the results of an independent survey of more than 7,000 U.S. customers who have either made purchases, used services or gathered information about products or services in the past three years. In total more than 140,000 evaluations were collected. The awarded brands each received on average 100 evaluations from customers.

Among home goods and décor retailers, Kirkland’s Home earned the top spot with 89.39 points, while Crate & Barrel was second with 88.51 points. HomeGoods took third with a score of 86.2,  World Market earned 86.11 points for fourth, and At Home’s score of 85.64 points was good enough for fifth.

Homesense was the top placer in the discount home goods segment with 85.34 points; Five Below (84.98) and Bargain Hunt (83.34) were the only other placers in the category.

Department stores were ranked for their clothing assortments. Van Maur led the pack (91.88), following by Bloomingdale’s (89.4), Boscov’s (88.71), Nordstrom (88.55) and Saks (88.13).

Similarly, off-pricers were categorized as Discount Clothing stores. Factory Connection and Rainbow Shops ranked 1st and 2nds, respectively. Marshalls landed 3rd (88.04), followed by TJMaxx (84.00) and Nordstrom Rack (83.49).

In the premium furniture category, Ethan Allen ranked first with a score of 88.96, with Armani Casa second with a total of 87.96. Pottery Barn was third with a score of 87.91, while Havertys ranked fourth at 87.7 points, and West Elm rounded out the top five with a score of 87.14.
